Foster Kobe-Day 53

Thanks to everyone for the great response to Kobe’s slo-mo video! We had a great (and slobbery) time making it and we were happy to share Kobe smiles. Kobe is a total doll and is a good sport about me following him around with the camera. “Here she is with that clicky thing in my …

Foster Kobe-Day 28

Tomorrow is our one month anniversary fostering Kobe and he is planning on celebrating with some of Titus’ tiny turkey meatballs! Foster Kobe-Day 18

Our foster Kobe is coming up on his 3rd week with us and now enjoys hanging out on the patio, as long as we keep him company. This week we made progress on a nasty ear infection Kobe has been battling. He was so good at the vet’s and the staff was completely smitten with …

Fosters Sydney & Bella -Adopted!

At the start of the year, we fostered 5-year-old bonded golden sisters Sydney & Bella for a few days, while they waited to catch a ride up to Homeward Bound. Sydney wasn’t able to run and play with her sister because she was in such pain, due to bilateral torn anterior cruciate ligaments(knees), in both legs. …

Meet Kobe! Kobe is a 6-year-old boy who came all the way from Taiwan to find the perfect home. He is a loving and affectionate boy (the term velcro has been mentioned on more than one occasion)  with a moderate energy level. He gets along good with other dogs, but doesn’t like to share his food …

Kona: Big Goofy Dog Grin

This week I was doing some photo management while migrating my library from Lightroom 3 to 4 and came across a series of photos of Kona that really tugged at my heart. It was just another day in which Kona and I had a great time hanging out. In truth that was pretty much every …

One From The Past

While organizing my photo library I came across this one, from a year ago, in the archives. We had a 5 hour hike in the mountains that day. Kona probably put on twice as much milage as we did with his extra exploring as we hiked. As soon as we got home, he had dinner and …

Happy Trails.

After an action packed 24 hours we said goodbye to Miss B, who is on her way up to Homeward Bound, where we’re sure this little beauty will quickly find her forever home. This little girl is full of energy and always ready to play. She is very good at retrieving and a good hunter…she …

An Overnight Guest

The house has been painfully quiet and far too clean (who knew I would miss fur tumbleweeds rolling across the floor, every time a door opened or closed?) without Kona so it was decided…we would foster again to liven things up. And like that, this little miss showed up for a sleepover and ready to …

Found Treasures

I found an old roll of film in my camera bag from a little over a year ago. This photo of Kona curled up on our bed, made me remember how much he loved to curl up there on a winter morning. It also made me realize my old camera (Nikkormat FTN) needs a tune …

Remembering

First, a moment of silence for those lost on 9/11… It has been a difficult week, full of emptiness. We have been doing our own grieving, something everyone everyone does differently. There have been many tears, but at the same time, many smiles from wonderful memories. The space Kona left in our hearts and home …

To Have Loved….

“‘Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all” -Alfred, Lord Tennyson In loving memory of Kona April 8, 2003- September 3, 2011 Yesterday, with great sorrow and many tears, we had to say our final goodbyes to our beloved Kona, who lost his battle with cancer. Kona passed peacefully …

Calling All Angels

“but if you could…do you think you would trade it in all the pain and suffering? ah, but then you’d miss the beauty of the light upon this earth and the sweetness of the leaving calling all angels calling all angels walk me through this one don’t leave me alone” -Jane Siberry “Calling All Angels”

Quality Time

Spending quality time with Kona outside… and in…. Kona is slowing down this week and we are spending every second with him to make him comfortable and happy. His spirits are still high but his body is not co-operating. He is still demanding belly rubs though…always a good thing:) Thanks again to all of you …

Camp Kona- Part 2

Day 2 of Kona’s beach adventure, we headed down to the beach right after breakfas,t to find it empty. Kona couldn’t believe that even though we are surrounded by millions of people, we were the only ones on this huge beach…what awesome luck! We explored caves and tide pools, and the boys decided to a …

Pet Therapy Prep

Today Kona was very happy to get his new business cards. What? A dog with business cards you ask? Yes indeed, Kona uses them when he is on his pet therapy rounds. Here’s Kona, showing off some of his new cards. Close up… Kona got a selection of new cards. These are all of them… …
