Hello everyone, it’s me Spencer! I just wanted to let you know I am hanging in there and still have more good moments than bad. Thank you all for your kind words and comments… it means a lot to me and the humans. I am so happy to know that I have made so many have a smile now and then.

I mostly feel pretty good in the daytime but the nights have been not too good for me. In the day I rest in my camp by the front window so I can keep an eye on all the comings and goings on our street. In the afternoon I spend time with my HM and HD on the patio and we share some laughs.

I like to take a nap in the sunshine.

I still have a healthy  appetite  and I am getting lots of yummy treats, mostly salmon and chicken…MMMM! Sometimes I feel good enough to wipe my face all over my bed BOL!

In the afternoon I read all the very nice comments on my blog.

And when I feel tired I take a nap. I sleep best when one of my humans is cuddling up with me.

And in the evening I like to rest by the fire. It’s  toasty  warm and the flames hypnotize me.

Even though we are a little sad we are mostly very happy and just enjoying every moment. Please don’t be sad about me but I hope that all of you can think of something funny about me and smile. Go give someone you love a hug and enjoy life.

  1. Spencer we are glad to hear that you are hanging in there like a trooper. We hope that you aren’t in too much pain. We wish we could do something to help you. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers and so is your HD and HM. No family should ever have to face the prospect of losing a beloved Golden, one who brings so much joy and happiness.   7. Great pics Spencer! We love sharing our life with you. My favorite pic of you is with all those balls in your mouth – you are such a talented pup and a big mouth, BOL!!! And we love how you’ve helped all those people with your therapy work, and the pups with your rescue work – you’ve helped sooooo many!

    Mum and I are off to take a cuddle nap together, and dream of you being the happiest, most loved pup on the planet :)

  8. Spencer, my sweet friend from MySpace, I am SO heartbroken to hear of your illness :o( But I am so glad your family is taking the time to share your precious time together. Our time here is so much shorter than theirs and it sometimes seems so unfair, but the love we share with them is so intense and unconditional, and we give them our all. When you depart for the Rainbow Bridge, you will not depart from your family and friends hearts… you will live on in cherished memories forever. Treasure your time together.

  9. hi there … i am beyond touched by your blog. your sweet spencer is absolutely beautiful. it breaks my heart to learn that he has hemangiosarcoma. we lost the love of our lives — tucker, a 9-y.o. golden retriever — right before christmas … 5 months after he was diagnosed with hsa. my heart will never be the same again. he was the most joyful part of my life. he looked so much like spencer. i am sending you my thoughts and hugs as i know the sadness and anticipatory grieving that you are experiencing, all too well. i was going to tell you to cherish every second with your sweet boy, but i can tell from the pictures and blog that you are already doing that. take care …

  12. Oh Spencer: You made my mom smile today! She is so happy that you are still with us. I hope you are enjoying all your special treats – you should ask for some vanilla ice cream (it is one of my favorites!). You rubbing your face on your bed made my hm burst out laughing cause I do that too! Mind you, I tend to do it on her bed and the couch but hey, it is my house too right? Spence, I sure hope you are ok buddy! My mom says she is very sad you are gonna leave us soon but that you are going to go and be a squirrel supervisor somewhere! And you will see B & J again. How cool is that??? You have been one lucky puppy with the humans you have – give them lots of kisses and stories (I love telling stories) cause they sure could use them right now. I can see how much they love you and you them. My mom thinks of you daily and wishes she could give you a great big hug (she is good at that) and make everything better!!!!

We are sad to know that he does not have much time to be here, and just keep thinking that the Rainbow Bridge is a HAPPY place … so take comfort.     It’s good to hear from you. We are trying to be upbeat like you. Your HM and HD care about you a lot; they obviously love you very much. You should take full advantage of surf and turf specials at dinner. Boru’s willing to fly out to L.A. to cuddle with you; he does it with us dogs all the time. Boru wants to be a dog and makes no secret about it. We’re sorry that the nights are bad; it’s strange but that’s usually the case. Be as comfortable as possible and get lots of rest.   44. Hi. So sorry to hear of Spencer’s diagnosis. I know it is unbelievable to hear that word “hemangiosarcoma”. I remember the first time I heard it. (It took my ‘girl’ on December 30th, 2008). You are doing the totally right thing at this time. Just love that boy and spend every moment you can with him. I can tell he sure loves you two very, very much.
