Horsing Around.

This past weekend the humans went horseback riding…right in the middle of Los Angeles. Yep, that’s right and it’s not a pony ride at the fair either. These are real horses and real trails. Just like Roy Rogers. There is an area called the Rancho Equestrian District, where people live smack in the middle of the city and have horse stalls in their backyards. They can do this because they live next to Griffith Park, which has 52 miles of trails to ride on. The Los Angeles Equestrian Center is there too and you can rent horses to ride around the trails in the park. Unfortunately, dogs aren’t allowed to ride the horses…something about the horses getting freaked out, so I had to stay home and get the report later.

This was a crazy little donkey who was keeping some of the horses company. He was very loud and yelled at the humans to pet him and give him carrots while they were waiting to saddle up. I think he could probably fit about 6 tennis balls in that mouth, BOL!

This horse was a giant! None of the humans wanted to ride him because he was big and scary…not scary in a Boo way, but REALLY BIG scary.

The riders start out at the Equestrian center and then head up into those hills up yonder. They look smaller than the really are and they have ravines and lots of trees. You can see deer and coyote sometimes and when it’s really hot you have to watch out for rattlesnakes! When you get to the top, you can see the city spread out on either side of you. It’s a great way to spend the day, even if they don’t let dogs ride!

  1. Wow! Horse back riding? And you were not allowed to go & ride on them? Not fair… Last month, when we all went to A’Famosa for a howliday, there were pony & horse riding there. My hoomans were only allowed to ride them not us but we got to sniff them nose to nose. I really like horsies & would bark my head off if I’m not allowed to go close to them. I’m not scared of horsies no matter how big they are but I’m scared of Newfoundlands & Chow Chows becoz of their weird looks & hairdos, harharharhar!

Btw, I’ve added you as my friend. See you have already added me here… Will visit your blog often Spence!

  2. Hi, Spencer.
Too bad you did not have the chance to go there. Sure would be fun to say hello to that dunky!
    Have a good night
