We are pinch-fostering (like pinch-hitting…get it: ) Ben, aka Sonny, for a few days for his foster family while they are away. Ben has a long back story which you can read here. In short, he was hit by a car and his hip and leg got really messed up. His family deserted him and rescue, well, rescued him. They are also getting him fixed up. Ben is an example of some of the extreme cases rescue gets and these cases get really expensive. Adoption fees and donations go towards helping sweet dogs like Ben have another chance at a good life. Ben’s real foster family has spent months taking him to hydrotherapy and making sure he gets all the treatments he needs to get better. One day soon Ben will be adopted and make some family really, really happy.
What a handsome devil old Ben is….he looks very comfy.
Heya M&S (sounds better than they other way around),
What a waste of such a spirit it would have been had SCGRR not stepped in to do the rescue magic. We can’t imagine waiting 3 days for treatment even if mom and dad didn’t have the financial means; they would,ve beg and promised whatever necessary. Our vets never worries about money as his primary concern, they do what has to be done and know mom and dad are good for it. It sure is good to be communicating with youses guys again. We still think of Spencer and you 2 everyday and try to put him in our blog since he is an OOTBH member. Now you’ll have to post an update when this guys gets placed from his foster home. You obviously hit a home run as pinch hitters.

My heart is still sad about Spencer – the picture of his collar and tennis balls is one of the saddest I’ve ever seen. But these nice Goldens you’re helping are here now, and it’s so nice of you to help them. Ben sure has been through a lot, poor guy.
See ya!
Joey
What a great looking pup, so sad to hear he was abandoned and hit by a car, what a life. Hope he finds that forever home to make up for loss time.
My rescue golden has the exact same story as Sonny. It’s amazing how much the hydrotherapy will do in his recovery. Along with short walks in the sand. Today, he is a happy and healthy boy that can do just about anything. It’s thanks to rescue and all the fosters and adopters that look after these special dogs.
Keep up your great work!
I read Sonny’s back story and I must say that I started tearing up right when I got to the poem. It just amazes how easily people will abandon their dogs. Thank you for bringing Sonny into your home, and thanks to all of his angles who have helped him along the way.
That is such a sweet photo! I’m glad you have a part in helping Ben find a happy life :)
Would do anything to adopt this pup, but we can barely afford to take care of Sammie right now, who did something mischievous that was our fault – ouch! this boyo sounds so sweet and wonderful – maybe Norcal GRR has a potential home? That could be pawsome! Will stay in contact!
