From Tucson, we took a side trip south east to the legendary town of Tombstone, where we went back in time to the days of Wyatt Earp and the OK Corral shootout. This western boom-town was a wild west frontier and retains it’s charm down main street.
Wyatt and the boys milling about before the big shootout.
It’s not called the wild west for nothing!
The boys take their chances in front of the OK Corral.
Those whose fortune ran out in Tombstone were buried at Boothill Graveyard. The sign on the entrance to the graveyard says it was a busy place.
There are many stories buried here.
Next stop on out itinerary was the old mining town of Bisbee. After the mines shut down artists moved in and the town is a wonderful example of Victorian architecture and un-commercialization. There are no chain stores here, every shop and restaurant is original, very refreshing. The town is charming and next up was the food….
We choose to have dinner at Santiago’s Mexican Restaurant. Being so near Mexico it seemed a good choice. The spinach and mushroom enchiladas were excellent and Kona gives two paws up to the Sonoran chicken enchiladas.
Yum! Love the sepia tone you give the photos! They are marvellous! Tombstone reminds us of our last stop of the 2nd camping trip of the late summer/fall – in October. Our last stop was Virginia City, nearish Reno – a bit touristy, but fun! But coming up from Mohave to travel and camp along 395 was the best – still… we would love to follow your itinerary! Kona – we know you had a great time!

Did they leave any “enchilada bones” for you to enjoy?
It looks like the kind of place that a sophisticated Golden Retriever could have a lot of fun.
Enjoy your travels.
