Today a busy and somewhat problem ridden week caught up with me all at once. It took me by surprise after having such a great time last weekend, visiting with all our blogging friends during Simona & Marco’s SoCal visit. Days like this sneak up on you, minute by minute, another issue rears it’s head and all of the sudden you are drowning in details of minutia, none of which really matter in the big picture of life.
I only had to look at Kona to forget it all. Leaving the studio, I grabbed my camera and we shot a series of photos in the setting sun. The shear act of it made me feel better and I forgot my work troubles quickly. Photography is a beautiful art, it is a moment, captured and then gone but that moment gives so very much as it passes you by.
And in this moment I finally captured the essence of Kona. Reviewing the photos was the best feeling. Ever since we adopted Kona I have been trying to capture that one moment that is Kona, pure and simple. Today I achieved that and it feels wonderful. This set of photos ARE Kona to me, his soul and spirit documented forever in the blink of a shutter.
So anytime you are feeling overwhelmed by those pesky unimportant things in life, find something you love…a good book, a camera, a best friend, and change your life for the better. Spend those few minutes and you will remember them a lifetime.
Hey M,S, & K,
Our dad is not usually retrospective but he said that only a wise and talented people could take such a GReat photoshoot and interweave them with such profound wisdom and advice; dad is normally a stoic guy. We love all the photos but were struck by the mode of the second one where Kona has his head turned. Thank you Michelle for sharing.

I just bought three Daisy The Curly Cat calendars, Two Harley (her little brother) calendars and five Daisy Christmas ornaments. Were they to do this for you, I would get something about you for my home, too.
Even a Calendar in Memory of The Great Spencer. Awesome.
The photos are absolutely perfect! I think Kona looks so noble and kind.
Cheers,
Sam
Wow! Stunning photos! I never look at my photos immediately after viewing yours LOL
I was just thinking something similar these past few days. Basically, by having my new pup I really cherish her ‘firsts’ and try to focus on her essence and joy and make time for that, because never is it more true, than with dogs, that nothing lasts forever. Those moments captured in photos are priceless. Good job !
Yes! Those AHHHHH moments of framing the subject just right, or catching that wonderful angle. The warm smiles each time you view the photos. Such lovely captures.
Hugs and snaggle-tooth kisses,
Sierra Rose
Amen!!! Just looking a Sophie and having a conversation with her, is calming. We were never meant to have all of these problems in life. That is why when we see the unadulterated love and life shine through those golden eyes, we know they are being true to their nature. So much for us all to learn.
Kona is just beautiful. I t is easy to see what a love he is. You certainly did capture his essence…
Great post. You have captured Kona so perfectly. I loved every single photograph!
Whoa, what a beautiful boy! Great photos. Visiting your blog made my day. The “Howloween” party pix were giddy inducing. So many goldens! Wheee! Thank you! *BG*

What great shot of Kona. You can almost see his soul. What a great comfort dogs are.
Tucker and Daisy’s Mom.
That is the best when our dogs can just wash away our worries by simply being with us. Congratulations on capturing the spirit of your beautiful boy.
A softness in his eyes…
shares Kona’s
gentle nobility and need to be loved.
Well done.
Thank you for a beautiful post, yet again! We adore Kona and love experiencing him through your eyes. He is your “therapy” just as Max is mine. Goldens are made for that…digging deep into the human soul and restoring it. We love you photography and also loved the pictures in the previous post – Kona’s piggy friend and his Kona-effect on the pigeons.
The sad thing about living so far away in SA is that we will most probably never meet our cyber-friends. So we rely on posts like yours – which share a deeper side as well as the friendship and comeradie of doggie-blogers. Thank you again.

Great photoshoot Kona!

Thank you for this post. We all need this reminder from time to time.
Kona has the classic Golden head, strong, broad expressive brows, slung ears, soulful eyes, inquisitive. He reminds me of my sweet boy Achilles. I missed him very much today. I hope he and Spencer are rompin’ about somewhere, oblivious to all but joy.
I love photography too. I used to have my own darkroom in Chicago, back before digital cameras. I loved that room, it was my retreat. Still have my Pentax, just a bit harder to find black and white roll film. :-)
Hugs and kisses to your furbaby.
You caught the life in the eyes!
(And the fuzzy ears too! :)
