Sky missed Candy the day after she went home but we lavished him with love and he’s doing better now.
We are starting to know more about Sky’s personality. He has some puppy traits about him, he likes to dig (I don’t know what it is about our peach tree, but if a dog is going to dig, it’s going to try and uproot our peach tree:), he likes to chew…toys, flip-flops, shoes…it’s all good to Sky, and he likes to bark. We are working on all of these things with Sky and for the most part he is co-operating. He’s an expert at removing the squeaky thing from stuffies. The best part is he carries it around in his mouth and we taught him to squeak it on command. It’s really funny until he bites too hard and then the squeaky doesn’t squeak anymore. He sleeps like a seal, which is super cute.
Sky walks nicely on the leash and is friendly with other dogs but we don’t know how he is with cats. He can be a little extra mouthy when he gets worked up at playtime, so he’d do best in a house without kids. He knows “sit” and “shake” and “down” while we are working on “off”, “no” and “stay”. This big guy is a diamond that needs a little polish and will make a wonderful addition to a family willing to work with him and give him the love and attention he needs. If you live in the Southern Cali area and are interested in helping Sky to his full potential, please contact the Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue.
In other news, we have updates on Candy… her new family is thrilled with her and are lavishing her with toys, walks and playtime. …Brinkley was officially adopted by his regular foster family making them part of the “foster failure” club (which is a GReat club to be part of!)… and poor Ben had his leg amputated after complication from his surgery to heal it after being hit by a car. The good news is that Ben adapted quickly to life as a tripod (he wasn’t using his bad leg hardly at all anyway) and is healing up so he can find his forever home. You can read Ben’s whole story here.
We are also honored to have been presented with the Bumpass Hounds “Bravo-Zulu” award for our fostering. We’d like to thank everyone for dropping by our blogs and your support. Due to our schedule, we don’t always have time to leave a lot of comments (sometimes we have trouble with comment leaving, I think it’s our new browser) but we do try to drop by to read our friends blogs on a somewhat regular basis. We enjoy helping these dogs so much. We do it in Spencer‘s memory because he was the foster that stole our hearts forever. We miss you big guy.
hope sky finds his forever home really soon. He´s so beautiful… and I´m sure he will learn to behave nicely really fast :)
Ohh.. it´s so sad that Ben had to be amputated… but I´m sure that if he has lot´s of love and care he will be as happy as a pup can be :) (with 3 or with 4 legs)

Sky is learning lots of good behavioral tricks I am sure he will find a good forever home soon. Congrats on your special award from those crazy hounds. =)
Heya M & S,
We are very pleased to give you a little bit of recognition for what you do in honor of our BBB Spencer. Dog rescue and fostering does have it’s ups and downs, highs and lows. But the result of finding a forever home for a homeless soul makes it all worth while. We thank you very much.

Hey there! We are so glad that the Bumpass Hounds mentioned this site on their blog–we are so excited to see how Spencer’s mommee and daddee are continuing their good work with needy Goldens! You both certainly deserve any awards that come your way!
Wuv,
Gus and Waldo
Here we go again… oh gosh… I always end up with my emotions up and down… We miss Spencer’s sorry, too, and we loved Ben story. We are ravishing with Candy and… and… we are leaking once again.
Gosh.
Love,
Pipa
