Remembering The Original Red Dog

02010097-version-2-1

Today  would have been the 12th birthday  of our first Golden Retriever, Raja. He was our first heart dog, the one who taught me what really matters in life. I have never met anyone, human or dog, that lived every day to it’s fullest as well as Raja. He savored each moment like a new treasure, just waiting to be discovered. He was that guy always looking for the next adventure and he lead us on many wonderful journeys. His own journey was tragically cut short by bone cancer. Raja put up a good fight but ultimately we lost him far too soon, 3 years ago this March. He powered on right up until his last minute and passed with a big goofy smile on his face. Raja opened the real world to me and I am forever indebted to him.

Raja was the original studio dog and loved to come to work with us everyday. He made it all a lot of fun and is credited with producing many great performances.

  2. Happy Happy Birthday Raja!!!! What an amazing head….love it! He really did love the studio I see and just being with you 2. What happy memories you 2 must have as I can tell he just gave you both so much joy and fun. I hope that there is a big party going on at the bridge today just for Raja…

  3. Ohhhh – Happy, happy Raja – I too wish I’d know you – you are so beautiful and obviously loved your “work!” BTW, Sammie’s leg is shaved from her operation a couple of weeks ago from, you know… the G-L-O-V-E incident ahem!!! She’s got other little shaved leggie sections and her abdomen is totally shaved. But she’s so much better – thanks for asking so much! She is doing great – good as new!
Hugs – thinking of Raja today.

  4. I know every dog is special, but some really stand out, and I can tell Raja did. Happy Birthday, Raja.

    Your pal,
    Joey

  5. Beautiful Boy. I never had the privilege of meeting him, just reading about him recently. We had a great dane mix that we rescued 20 years ago. Her name was Molly and we were both pregnant at the same time. We called her our Angel dog. Tears still come to my eyes as I write this. She was beyond special. I understand when you speak of Raja and what he taught you. Two years after we lost Molly, we were fortunate to rescue Sophie, our 13 year old Golden. We love Sophie as you love Spencer, but there will never be another dog like Molly for us. She understood us.
Much love to you both as you remember your special Raja,
    Diane

  6. Heya M&S,
We sure would have been honored to have known Raja. He sure was a good looking studly guy. Those reds have a lot of spirit. Our departed brother Rusty and sister Penny were both reds. Homer J. is a red. Raja looks like a dog that would win you over very easily. Raja and Spencer are probably swapping stories about who got away with the most tricks on you two. Happy Birthday Raja; your spirit lives on. You are not forgotten.

  7. I love the look on his face in the first studio shot. He is so intent on what is going on. I hope you have a good day, and remember all his golden love.
