Jake is settling in to our home and we are finding out new things about him as he does. Goldens are hunting dogs and Jake has the nose of a keen hunter. He puts his nose to the ground and sniffs every tiny scent. Jake is very keen on moving things so he would not do well in a home with a cat, bunny or small dog. He likes to carry slippers around but drops them if you tell him to. He retrieves a frisbee but when he brings it back he would rather play keep away. He enjoys chewing the Westpaws ball and likes it if you roll it to him.
Sky and Jake are getting along now but I think both would prefer to have us to themselves. Jake was a little testy to Sky the first day but they get along now although they do not play like Sky and Candy did. They follow each other around the yard sniffing every inch.
Jake is a little nervous about new things but with some encouragement he bravely checks things out . He barked a whole lot at me with the camera until I let him put some nose prints on it. Of course he just might not like getting his picture taken:).
In the house, Jake behaves like a gentleman except for the occasional paws on counter. He responds well to “no” and also knows “sit” , “come” and “down”. He needs to work on his leash manners but is getting better in the few days he’s been with us. He sleeps on his bed at night and will chill with you wherever you are. He is a young guy and wakes up with a lot of energy so, like most Goldens, he needs a lot of exercise. If you give him that, he is happy to lie around while you go about your day. Jake would be very happy to find someone to give him a lot of love, some playtime and help him explore the world. If you live in the Southern California area and are interested in adopting Jake, please contact the Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue.
Heya M & S,
A few of us would rather be only dogs too, but pigs want to fly also and that ain’t happening yet either. Both of the boys are quite handsome guys. We’ve got the good vib machine turned up and generating.

We have an explorer here, hum?
I hope you’ll find your furever home soon, pal.

It must be so hard to leave everything you’re used to and suddenly find yourself in a different place, with different people, dogs, and rules. If I were Jake, I’d probably be nervous too, poor guy. I hope he finds a family to love him, and Sky, too.
Your pal,
Joey
Love the wrinkles you have on your forehead! so cool! :)
Keep up the good work learning to behave at home.
