Ben-update

dsc_0017-version-3

Ben is only staying with us until his foster family returns from a trip but he has made himself right at home. He claimed the sofa within minutes of his arrival and loves to hang out in the back yard. He’s a perfect gentleman and craves attention. His favorite pose so far has been to lie on his back to invite you to give him pets.

Ben is a classic “red” Golden Retriever, custom made to be in the field. Generally, red gold is leaner and built to run. Reds have A LOT of energy and are VERY intelligent. They can initially be a handful to train, but catch on very quickly and once trained they are fantastic companions for an active family. If your idea of exercise is walking from the couch to the fridge, a red is NOT the dog for you. (well, maybe if they are old red gold…but just maybe). These dogs, even though they love the couch, are not couch potatoes until the end of a busy day. Reds LOVE to swim and will be in even the smallest amount of water in no time.

Ben is very playful and we are making up games to amuse him…that’s another red trait, they can make you do things:) He likes to “talk” to you when he wants you to do something. It’s very cute. He’s a big love and we hope he finds the perfect family when he’s ready to be adopted.

  1. Ben deserves a really neat furever home; he is a handsome fella.. The first Bumpass Hound, Rusty, was a red golden as was the second, Penny. Rusty used to invent games with mom and he was very smart just like you said. He had so much energy that mom and dad got Penny to play with him.

  5. Oh my gosh Ben is just beautiful! I love the redheads! How nice of you all to keep him while his regular foster family is on a trip. It does sound like he is making himself right at home and having lots of fun with you all. I got a new girl this week too that I picked up. She is quite small and young. She is shy right now with all the big boys here but is holding her own. I will send you pics of her soon once things slow down a little…crazy busy week…ugh. I have to say I love the pics you took of Ben…the camera loves him that is for sure. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Time for a potty break here for the gang….
    Hugs,
