Welcome back to my Cali Coastal Adventure! After a good night’s sleep we headed a little north to a town called Pacific Grove. We took in the views at Lover’s Point. There was a lot going on there that day.
The coast here has a lot of interesting rock formations. The whole bay here is part of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. There is a lot of marine life in the bay and it’s important to protect it.
The local dive group was conducting a fish count of certain species to see how they are fairing. I sat and watched them popping up and down in the water, they looked a little like seals.
There were some tide pools among the rocks just perfect for exploring the sea life. It’s very important not to remove any of the inhabitants. Sniffing is ok though. Just be careful not to get a snout full of water, BOL!
In town close to the coast, there are historic Victorian houses. They are very cute and well taken care of.
To the south you can see Pebble Beach.
After lunch we decided to spend the rest of the day relaxing on the beach. I’ve been asked why I don’t swim in the ocean and the reason is that in my former life (pre-adoption of my current humans) I had a bad water experience with water so I don’t like to be totally in it. I do like to walk along the surf and get my paws wet though and I love lounging on the beach. I’ll be back tomorrow with the conclusion of my trip.
Spencer,
The adventure continues. We understand about some GRs not liking the water. Chance, he’s over the Bridge, used to not like getting all the way in the water. We think he had a bad experience before he joined us. He didn’t retrieve or catch tennis balls either but we still loved him a lot and we miss him very much. Homer J. doesn’t seem too keen on the water either but he’s our elder so to each his own. Jubal, JEB, Jack, Abby and of course theNewf, Max and Shiloh, are 50% fish and love to be swimming around in the lake. We’re looking foreward to the last episode. Gotta go look at it now. – TBH
