Cali Coastal Adventure: Part 3- More Carmel

Welcome to part 3 of my great Cali Coastal Adventure! We jumped in the car and took a trip over to Carmel Village in the Carmel valley. The valley is nestled in the mountains and has some neighborhoods and ranches. In the village there are shops and restaurants, although not as many as in Carmel By The Sea.

We wandered around checking out the shops and looking for a place to have lunch. The area is very close to the Big Sur fires that have been burning for a month and there was a firefighter base close to the village. We ran into some firefighters up from Ventura County to help fight the fire. Hmmm, maybe I could try out for firehouse dog or is that only for Dalmatians?

There is a lot of lavender in the valley and lots of bees were attracted to it. It smelled very nice but I had to be careful not to get sting. We found a really nice restaurant called Daniel’s Garden Bistro. They were very welcoming to me and brought me my own water dish. The halibut with mango salsa was very tasty!

After lunch we headed back to Carmel By The Sea and did some shopping. The humans took me to a boutique pet store called Diggity Dog. It was pawesome! I browsed around and convinced the humans to buy me a bag of cookies, some squeaky tennis balls and a really great nap bed from West Paw Design. I have some of their toys and like those, their beds are eco-friendly. Believe it or not, my bed is made out of 49 soda bottles recycled into a very comfy bed. I don’t know how they do that but I’m glad they did. When we were done shopping we had a coffee break and I tried out my new nap bed. Perfect!

In the courtyard there was a very nice bird house nestled in the flowers.

After that it was back to the beach! I was ready for some beach ball action!

And then I did some pup and human watching. There was a lot of action to take in.

All that  shopping and fresh air  made me sleepy so I took a little nap. I didn’t bring my bed to the beach so it wouldn’t get all sandy.

Back at the hotel I got a very tasty dinner of fresh chicken breast! Hurry, hurry…I’m hungry!

After I had my dinner we headed out to find a nice restaurant so the humans could eat too.   It was their 12th wedding anniversary so we looked for a very nice place. We ended up at Porta Bella on Ocean Avenue, a Mediterranean restaurant and they had a lovely patio for diners with dogs! The humans enjoyed their meal and I was happy to lounge beside them on the patio. I even got my water served in a champagne bucket!

After dinner we did a bitof  window shopping because most stores were closed  and then headed back to the hotel. I was one tired dog! I crashed out as soon as I got in the room and didn’t even make it to my bed.

  1. Spencer,
You ARE one cool dude. What a life. Sun, sea, and fresh air. The beach. Patio dining. Fresh chicken breast. We are SOOOOOOOO envious. We’ll try to rationalize somehow that we’re cooler than you; NAH, you are the coolest – TBH

  2. Hi Spencer, we were so happy to read about your coastal adventures. Looks like you all had a great time. The Central Coast is so dog friendly – we miss it :)

    Happy Anniversary to your parents.
